Some prints accompanied by typescript captions sheets with manuscript annotations by Kikue Fujii (one of them signed K. Fujii).
Per some of the annotated comments, the captions were apparently intended to be published with the photographs. Opening caption,
and perhaps all others, likely devised in the months following Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, December 7, 1941. Captions
are addressed to a Mrs. Kline.

Shuji Fujii was the editor of Doho, a Los Angeles-based weekly leftist news magazine, published in Japanese and English, which
promoted anti-Axis causes and encouraged support of the United States war effort against Japan.
Tokutaro Nishimura "Tokie" Slocum fought for the United States in First World War; helped to pioneer legislation for the naturalization
process of Japanese Americans; during early years of Second World War was active in the Japanese American Citizens' League
and collaborated with U.S. intelligence agencies in counter-espionage activities directed at Japanese Americans believed to
be collaborating with Japan; was interned in the Manzanar relocation camp for the remainder of World War II; died in Fresno
in 1974.
